Scooter

Scooter is a 4-year-old Borzoi (Russian Wolfhound). He came to us from his breeder at about 18 months of age. He had gone as a pup to live with the co-breeder of his litter, to keep his litter-sister Tara company. Tara was the co-breeder's pick-of-the-litter. However, little Scooter (known then as "Mahtan," his registered name)didn't fit in so well with the co-breeder's large adult male Borzoi, and he ended up getting picked on alot, and went straight to the bottom rung of the pack hierarchy. The co-breeder and breeder both wanted what was best for Scooter, and the breeder knew I was finally ready for a Borzoi (I was losing my "heart-dog," Baer, a 12-year-old German Shepherd Dog to a spine disease), so the adoption was arranged.
Scooter is wonderful. He is alternately soulful, goofy, lightening-fast and lazy. He loves me dearly, and fully expects to be waited on paw-and-foot in return. He is very obedient (for a sight-hound!), and loves everyone he meets, winning people over to the breed who didn't even think they liked sight-hounds before meeting him. He is truly a gentle giant. |
